S for slack day

Just re-read my previous post and realized I wrote, "... when my parents bought me home." It was a typo, else it would have been the worst idea/investment they had ever had. Heh, maybe it still is.

Had a bbq on saturday evening, preceeded by dim sum that afternoon as lunch. My body must not like it coz I came home feeling extremely tired. Maybe it's all those hours out in the sun, or maybe it's because someone kept me up till 4am chatting about random stuff and woke me up at 11am to go dim sum continued with bike ride while this same person jogged. Anyways, I slept till 3pm today and woke up with a headache. I skipped bike ride today, coz the weather was crappy and I felt the same. When I was at the coffee place they gave me a free muffin 10 mins before closing. I think I know where I will be hanging out sunday evenings.

Sometimes all you need is one bad news to spoil your day. Today, unfortunately is one of those days. I found out early in the afternoon that it takes 3-5 months to get my passport renewed here. 3-5 months. I don't know who decided that was acceptable, whoever it was must have not lived in a foreign country, because it is ridiculous. The embassy told me they have to send it back to M'sia for processing. Well, I thought that's what a foreign embassy is for, so you can do things like that when you are away? Doesn't it only takes 3 days back home? What kind of mail service are they using? Pigeons? Whatever genius reasons they have, I really don't care. I mean, how could they not see that 3-5 months is a stupidly long time to be in a foreign country without a passport? Other than the fact that you are stuck the moment you mail your passport out for as long as it takes, you don't have that one piece of ID you need in almost any government related issue. The time has come... I keep seeing wedding/engagement pictures/announcement popping up on facebook. I'm sure very soon I'll see baby pics popping up like spring bamboo shoots after the rain (I think that is the literal translation). If you are one of those who ask, "How about you?" Then you can be friends with my mom. If you are nodding your head and thinking that kind of reality check is kinda scary/crazy but you will shrug it off anyways, we can be friends. If you think I'm conflicted/bitter because of what I hinted at in the last post.. then I say thank you for paying way too much attention, but my head hurt so I might have been delusional. It would be kinda weird though, if I were to return. It would feel like suddenly everyone is 10 years older, with their respective others, career, babies etc. And all I have been doing was learning to live with myself. There is so much catching up to do.
