Ever felt like you are drunk inside your head? I was getting lunch at the hospital cafeteria when random thoughts kept popping up. Examples of such thoughts are:

"Hmm.. this asian lady smiles a lot. She looks like a typical chinese, I bet she's from china... wait, she smells like Aleks. I wonder which perfume would that be. I can ask Aleks... right, tell her some random stranger smelled like her without sounding creepy. Though it's not my fault that ppl use the same perfume and I remember scents. For example our department secretary smells like Carol... don't ever say things like that out loud, by the way. Dirk smells like coffee and his body wash in the morning... "

"Hmm... I haven't been here for a while. Someone got a tan. And a cleavage. Wait.. did I just think that? Did she? She probably always had that, the shading is just accentuating it now... That's the stupidest theory I've ever heard... Ok now stop looking at it while you are pondering. I was really just looking at the food she's making, her cleavage is very close to my food... that's all. No one will believe that other than you. Stop staring."

For the 20 mins that I was waiting for my salad, all these random voices were having a party and I was rather amused by it. Sleep deprivation can be fun.

Sometimes all you need is one bad news to spoil your day. Today, unfortunately is one of those days. I found out early in the afternoon that it takes 3-5 months to get my passport renewed here. 3-5 months. I don't know who decided that was acceptable, whoever it was must have not lived in a foreign country, because it is ridiculous. The embassy told me they have to send it back to M'sia for processing. Well, I thought that's what a foreign embassy is for, so you can do things like that when you are away? Doesn't it only takes 3 days back home? What kind of mail service are they using? Pigeons? Whatever genius reasons they have, I really don't care. I mean, how could they not see that 3-5 months is a stupidly long time to be in a foreign country without a passport? Other than the fact that you are stuck the moment you mail your passport out for as long as it takes, you don't have that one piece of ID you need in almost any government related issue. The time has come... I keep seeing wedding/engagement pictures/announcement popping up on facebook. I'm sure very soon I'll see baby pics popping up like spring bamboo shoots after the rain (I think that is the literal translation). If you are one of those who ask, "How about you?" Then you can be friends with my mom. If you are nodding your head and thinking that kind of reality check is kinda scary/crazy but you will shrug it off anyways, we can be friends. If you think I'm conflicted/bitter because of what I hinted at in the last post.. then I say thank you for paying way too much attention, but my head hurt so I might have been delusional. It would be kinda weird though, if I were to return. It would feel like suddenly everyone is 10 years older, with their respective others, career, babies etc. And all I have been doing was learning to live with myself. There is so much catching up to do.
