Ah... can this week be any crazier. First of all, thanks for the one and only good luck wish. You're so nice I decided that I will dedicate the 2nd and 3rd sentence of this post to you. :D I'm in Cleveland right now so you should feel extra special. Alright, all jokes aside, it went really well. There's some minor glitches but the main thing went well.

We had our first human implant last tuesday.

We didn't perform the surgery, obviously, the surgeons did, but it was still sort of a big deal for us. After all, it is my boss's baby and my project for the past four years. More importantly, we wouldn't want to dissapoint the patient. If things stay the same as what we saw during surgery, he'll be happy, I believe. First testing this Friday. Fingers crossed.

But as I said, I'm at a conference in cleveland. Been here since Saturday, so it was quite a rush to get posters done for this trip, and I've just got back from visiting the "Rock and Roll hall of fame". I got here one day earlier thinking I can visit the city a bit, but downtown is dead quiet at night so I spend most of my time hanging out with the boys... drinking. As a result of that, I've discover:
1) Hard ice tea -> tasty
2) Saketini -> smooth, but don't order it during dinner meeting with your boss.

I'm sleepy, me go sleep.

Sometimes all you need is one bad news to spoil your day. Today, unfortunately is one of those days. I found out early in the afternoon that it takes 3-5 months to get my passport renewed here. 3-5 months. I don't know who decided that was acceptable, whoever it was must have not lived in a foreign country, because it is ridiculous. The embassy told me they have to send it back to M'sia for processing. Well, I thought that's what a foreign embassy is for, so you can do things like that when you are away? Doesn't it only takes 3 days back home? What kind of mail service are they using? Pigeons? Whatever genius reasons they have, I really don't care. I mean, how could they not see that 3-5 months is a stupidly long time to be in a foreign country without a passport? Other than the fact that you are stuck the moment you mail your passport out for as long as it takes, you don't have that one piece of ID you need in almost any government related issue. The time has come... I keep seeing wedding/engagement pictures/announcement popping up on facebook. I'm sure very soon I'll see baby pics popping up like spring bamboo shoots after the rain (I think that is the literal translation). If you are one of those who ask, "How about you?" Then you can be friends with my mom. If you are nodding your head and thinking that kind of reality check is kinda scary/crazy but you will shrug it off anyways, we can be friends. If you think I'm conflicted/bitter because of what I hinted at in the last post.. then I say thank you for paying way too much attention, but my head hurt so I might have been delusional. It would be kinda weird though, if I were to return. It would feel like suddenly everyone is 10 years older, with their respective others, career, babies etc. And all I have been doing was learning to live with myself. There is so much catching up to do.
